A tragic accident occurred in southwest suburban Joliet yesterday, leaving a 49-year-old woman dead after being struck by a pickup truck.
As reported by WGN-TV, the driver of a Ford 250 pickup, identified as 33-year-old Matthew Ortelli, was traveling westbound on McDonough Street, having turned from Larkin Avenue. Around 7:15 p.m., he struck a pedestrian, a 49-year-old woman, believed to be in the roadway. Although Ortelli initially left the scene, he returned shortly afterward and was later cited for "failure to give information and render aid."
The woman, whose identity has not yet been released by the Will County Coroner's Office, was transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center where she tragically succumbed to her injuries per Fox 32 Chicago.
