A heartbreaking tragedy occurred on Tuesday, September 12th, as Alexander Kush, a 25-year-old man from Oak Forest, Illinois, lost his life in an industrial accident. The incident took place at around 10:30 a.m in South Holland, where Kush and his fellow employees were unloading granite slabs from a container trailer. To devastating consequence, the load unexpectedly shifted and landed on Kush with its full force, ultimately ending his life, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office officially stated that the young man suffered "multiple crush injuries" resulting from the "collapse of stone slabs," concluding that the cause of death was accidental, per the Chicago Tribune. In response to the accident, the South Holland Fire Department called for the assistance of the local Combined Agency Response Team, an organization specializing in technical rescues, as reported by Patch.
Although South Holland firefighters and paramedics quickly arrived on the scene, tragically, Kush was pronounced dead before 11 a.m., with no amount of trained expertise able to reverse his untimely fate.
Online sources point towards Renovation Refined, a design and build firm with a factory located at the accident site, as a potential employer of the late Mr. Kush, according to Patch. The company specializes in kitchen, bath, and interior remodeling, with an emphasis on custom stone work, via Patch. As of this writing, Renovation Refined has not yet returned requests for comment.
