Earlier today, a car dealership in Whitman, Massachusetts fell victim to an audacious heist as thieves targeted the establishment not once, but twice, within a matter of hours. The criminals made off with five vehicles in total, leaving the dealership, as well as law enforcement and the community, unsettled by their audacity and resourcefulness.
It all began around 1 a.m. when a dark-colored SUV dropped off three suspects at Auto Sales Express, a dealership located on Temple Street in Whitman. The suspects managed to steal three vehicles - a Mazda CX7, a BMW, and a Nissan Murano, according to NBC Boston.
A short time later, the perpetrators returned to the scene, once again arriving in the same SUV. This time, they managed to take another BMW and a Ford Explorer. The latter vehicle would ultimately be involved in a crash on Crescent Street in neighboring Brockton, WBZ NewsRadio reported. This incident led to the Whitman Police learning of the stolen vehicles and launching an investigation.
As reported on CBS News Boston, a neighbor managed to capture footage of the Ford Explorer, which was smoking on the side of the road after the crash. She called out to ask if the individual involved needed assistance but received no response. In another piece of captured footage, a different SUV pulled up to the BMW near the site of the accident. One person from the SUV hopped into the BMW, and both vehicles sped away together.
While the white Ford Explorer has been returned to the dealership, visibly damaged, Whitman Police are still looking for the other vehicles and seeking any information regarding the suspects' identities. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Whitman Police at 781-447-1212.
