Two men found themselves under siege as numerous gunshots rang out in  Washington Heights neighborhood on the city's Far South Side on Wedenesday night.

A 31-year-old man was fatally wounded, while a 34-year-old remains in critical condition, fighting for his life at Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Chicago Sun-Times.

Officers responded to the horrifying scene on the 10600 block of South Green Street around 9:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a person shot.

They discovered a parked car with the two victims riddled with gunshot wounds. The shooters, identified only as unidentified assailants, remain at large, and no arrests have been reported yet, as per the Fox 32 Chicago.

The identity of the deceased has not been released by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
