In Wentworth, there are concerns over a recent series of robbery-related incidents have prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue an alert warning citizens to be vigilant. According to the police report, one or two male offenders have been targeting female victims in this area, and the incidents have been growing in frequency over the past few weeks.
These offenders have displayed a handgun, demanding the victims' property. In some cases, they took the victims' cell phones and transferred money from their mobile payment accounts before fleeing on foot. The robberies occurred in the general vicinity of the 5000 block of South Champlain Avenue and the 5000 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, with incidents recorded between August 28, 2023, and September 18, 2023.
The perpetrators have been described as African-American males, aged between 20 and 29 years old. Reports suggest that the alarming frequency of these robberies may signal a growing trend in that area. In response, the Chicago Police Department calls for the public to remain vigilant, reporting any suspicious activity and taking precautionary measures.
