Yesterday, an attempted traffic stop in a City Heights neighborhood led to a 1.4-mile pursuit today, culminating in the arrest of three individuals and the confiscation of a gun.
The officers from the Mid-City Division were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a white Acura TL for equipment violations when the high-speed pursuit began, according to the San Diego Police Department.
A police helicopter, ABLE, provided assistance, eventually leading to an end to the chase, as the Acura drove into a dead-end. With the aid of ABLE's video, officers were able to discover that one of the passengers had thrown a gun from the vehicle during the pursuit.
This incident resulted in three arrests, with charges including felony evading, probation violations, and felon in possession of a handgun and ammunition.
