
On Tuesday, a 37-year-old woman was killed and a 39-year-old man severely injured when they were hit by a vehicle while crossing Butterfield Road near Canterbury Lane in Mundelein, Illinois, according to Fox 32 Chicago.
Upon receiving reports of the crash, Mundelein Village police responded immediately and found the victims injured on the west side of Butterfield Road, south of Canterbury Lane.
The man and woman were rapidly attended to and transported to hospitals. Tragically, despite the desperate efforts of medical professionals, the woman succumbed to her injuries, as reported by Patch.
The driver, a 67-year-old man, was not injured during the incident and is presently cooperating with the police, who are investigating every aspect of the case.
At this time, no indications suggest that the driver was impaired, under the influence of alcohol, or drugs; however, authorities are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collision.
