Ryan Davidson, a 38-year-old Worcester resident, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for unlawfully possessing a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. The charges were announced yesterday by Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy, James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Worcester Police Chief Steven Sargent, as stated by the U.S Attorney's office.
Davidson, who is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to prior felony convictions, reportedly possessed a Taurus 9-millimeter pistol and 26 rounds of 9mm ammunition on May 9, 2023. While the details contained in the charging documents are currently allegations, if found guilty, Davidson could face up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
The discovery and indictment of Davidson's case is a result of the Department of Justice's initiative – Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). Launched on May 26, 2021, this program aims at fostering trust and legitimacy in communities through cooperation at various levels of law enforcement, support for community-based organizations focused on violence prevention, strategic enforcement priorities, and monitoring results to make neighborhoods safer for all.
