Yesterday, Worcester Police officers converged on Austin Street in response to a tense situation involving a dangerous weapon. Upon their arrival, officers found Wilfred Zayzay, a thirty-three-year-old man residing on Queen Street, caught in the grip of sleep on a porch, knife in hand, as reported by the Worcester Police Department.
Authorities awoke Mr. Zayzay and implored him to release his grasp on the knife. Initially, he refused to comply, prompting an officer to brandish a department-issued Taser. Faced with the potential consequences, Mr. Zayzay relented and placed the knife on the ground.
As the officers took Mr. Zayzay into custody, they soon discovered that this was more than a mere stand-alone incident. An active warrant for armed robbery had been issued for Mr. Zayzay, adding yet another somber dimension to the unfolding narrative.
Wilfred Zayzay faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon on top of an existing armed robbery warrant.
