Yesterday, a disturbing occurrence transpired in Worcester, Massachusetts. At approximately 7:45 AM, officers from the Worcester Police Department (WPD) responded to a call at the Dunkin Donuts located at 845 Main St. The situation involved a man wielding a knife and threatening patrons within the establishment.
According to eyewitness accounts, a male individual entered the store, making demands of those present. As his requests were denied, tensions escalated, the suspect brought out a knife, and began yelling at employees. A courageous bystander stepped in to confront the man; however, his noble efforts were met with the volatile suspect brandishing the knife in the bystander's face. The suspect ultimately left the scene, prompting WPD officers to issue a "be on the lookout" (BOLO) alert for him.
Upon canvassing the area, officers located a man matching the description of the suspect, identified by the WPD as Curtis Bryan, aged 51, of Main St. Upon detaining Mr. Bryan, officers discovered a knife in his possession. The situation took a further dark turn as Mr. Bryan resisted arrest, attempting to pull away from the officers and even spitting on them.
Subsequent evidence tied Bryan to the earlier incident at the Dunkin Donuts. Ultimately, Bryan was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. At the time of his arrest, Bryan had an outstanding warrant for his capture, further complicating his legal predicament.
