On Tuesday, October 17, Yaritza Martinez, a 32-year-old, was arrested following the detection of gunshot activity in a neighborhood on Maple Street. The authorities' alert system reported a shot spotter activation, and police arrived on scene to find a spent shell casing and an apartment window struck by a bullet.
The investigation identified a second incident of shot spotter being activated on 110 Hampshire Street 45 minutes later. Another shell casing was found on the preceding scene, though no calls were made to the police to alert them of the situation, resulting in a swift response that led to the discovery of a suspect.
The suspect's arrest took place on High Street, where officers located the suspect's vehicle and found a firearm inside. Martinez is facing charges, including discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and possessing an unlicensed assault weapon.
