In Croydon, New Hampshire, a 73-year-old pilot tragically died in a helicopter crash. Carl Svenson, employed by JBI Helicopter Services since the 1980s, lost his life in the accident that happened moments after takeoff on Sunday, NBC Boston reports.
The helicopter, a Bell 407, took off from Croydon, New Hampshire and was meant to reach Quonset Point, Rhode Island, a journey of approximately 180 miles. However, the helicopter vanished from radar shortly after takeoff, inciting worry for Svenson's safety as reported by AP News.
The Croydon Fire Department, with assistance from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, acted quickly to carry out a search. Earlier today, the wreckage was found in a wooded area near the takeoff point.
An investigation into the crash is already underway. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board hope to uncover what caused this devastating accident.
