Yesterday, the tranquility of Lake Winnipesaukee community in New Hampshire was disrupted. Barry Haight, 77, tragically died after accidentally steering his SUV into the lake. His water-submerged 2017 Acura RDX SUV was reported by NBC Boston.
Haight was mistakenly drove down a nearby boat ramp while in a cul-de-sac on Windward Way, ending up in the lake and trapped inside the vehicle, as mentioned by Boston.com. For roughly an hour and a half, Haight's life remained in the balance, with the community waiting anxiously for a resolution.
Neighbors sprung into action upon discovering the accident. Thomas Bishop, a local firefighter, found Haight and began the rescue operation. He managed to access the submerged vehicle and extract Haight in order to save a precious life, tirelessly working with another neighbor. Until emergency personnel arrived, Bishop performed CPR on Haight.
However, despite the valiant efforts, Haight was declared dead upon reaching Concord Hospital-Laconia, according to NBC Boston. The Moultonborough Police Department stated this incident to be a tragic accident in their initial investigation.
