Today, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price coordinated a meeting of various stakeholders to tackle the pervasive issue of gun violence in the county. As reported by the County's District Attorney's Office, the event convened participants from the Brady Campaign, Moms Demand Action, the Office of Violence Prevention from the Alameda County Public Health Department, and local law enforcement agencies.

This initiative clearly exhibits Price's determination to comprehend the nuances of gun violence and devise solutions collaboratively. She also showed commitment by starting a mentorship program for young men dealing with firearm-related issues. Stepping aside from her predecessors’ course of action, Price has exhibited a heightened sense of urgency towards the matter.

The conference took place at Glad Tidings International Church of God in Christ in Hayward, serving as a venue for a candid discourse from different entities affected by the issue. Tanya Schardt, the Senior Counsel and Director of the Brady Campaign expressed her gratitude to be involved, declaring, "It's incredible that a leader in Alameda County recognizes gun violence as a crisis and convenes diverse leaders to figure out solutions to curb the violence."

Building significant connections between communities and law enforcement is crucial for trust and collaboration, factors that are integral to addressing gun violence. Lisa Henry of Moms Demand Action echoed this sentiment, expressing her wish to continue partnerships with the District Attorney and local officials. She informed the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, "We would continue to support the DA and the community's connection to them."

The roundtable also served to share experiences and challenges faced by law enforcement agencies caught in the midst of this crisis. The concerted effort by several police chiefs from Fremont, Hayward, Newark, BART, and Oakland, among others, indicates law enforcement's joint effort to battle gun violence throughout the county.

These multi-dimensional partnerships can lead to extensive strategies to tackle the root causes of gun violence. In June of this year, DA Price pledged support for essential gun reform bills, which included Assembly Bills 301, 732, 733, 1089, and 1420, during her presentation to the Senate's Public Safety Committee.
