A federal grand jury in Springfield has indicted 25-year-old Bradley Driscoll of Amherst, Massachusetts, over charges of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) states the Department of Justice. Arrested earlier today, Driscoll allegedly had CSAM in his possession in August 2022 and knowingly distributed the material featuring a minor victim under 12 years old. If found guilty, he faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum of 20 years for each charge.
The exposure of crimes such as this amplifies the need for a comprehensive approach aimed at preventing child exploitation. It raises the question on what should be implemented to address this underlying issue.
To combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, the Department of Justice in May 2006 launched Project Safe Childhood (PSC). Mobilizing federal, state, and local resources, PSC unifies the efforts of the U.S. Attorneys' Offices, the DOJ's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, and other related organizations. Its mission is to capture and prosecute exploiters of children while identifying and rescuing victims.
The current investigation into Driscoll signifies the effective cooperation between local and federal authorities in Amherst, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Boston Division, and the Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy. Together, they are taking allegations seriously to swiftly bring criminals to justice.
