
Yesterday, a shooting event unfolded in Hartford involving a police officer and an armed man. The clash, recounted by NBC Connecticut, occurred at the Westland and Barbour streets intersection when the police were alerted of a man with a gun threatening folks from a vehicle.
The police managed to detain the car at the scene. All of a sudden, a man emerged from the passenger seat and opened fire on an officer. The officer retaliated and shot, critically injuring the man. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to NBC Connecticut.
In the following press conference, Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin expressed the tragedy's impact on the community. Connecticut State Police and The Office of the Inspector General have since initiated investigations into the shooting incident, emphasizing transparency at the behest of community members.
WWLP confirms that the involved officer did not sustain injuries. Mayor Bronin also reinforced that transparency will be a key aspect of the ongoing investigations.
