
On June 18th, 2023, a Juneteenth celebration in Willowbrook, Illinois was disrupted by gunfire, leading to the death of 31-year-old Reginald Meadows and injuries to 22 others. The disaster ensued within a crowded strip mall parking lot. This week, Anthony Mothershed, a 19-year-old from Aurora, was charged in relation to the incident. Mothershed faces a count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and another of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reported the Chicago Sun-Times.
According to reports, Mothershed allegedly fired his weapon at partygoers near a beauty supply store during the celebration, and later fled the scene. His arresting occurred on Wednesday, October 4, and pre-trial release was denied by the DuPage County State's Attorney's Officetoday, as per ABC 7 Chicago.
The investigation is still ongoing.
