Award-winning chef Douglass Williams, known for his Italian restaurant Mida, brings French cuisine to Fenway with the opening of his latest venture, DW French, today, October 19. This journey was facilitated by his historical encounters with French culinary techniques, as documented by Boston.com.
Williams' culinary trajectory saw him starting at French-inspired Radius in Boston, later landing a role to cook at two-star Michelin restaurant, Akrame, in Paris. The vision for his new restaurant, DW French, is to make French food accessible and enjoyable for a wide audience, noted Boston Magazine.
The DW French menu will include quintessential French dishes like French onion soup, steak frites, and crème brûlée. Providing an exuberant ambience and superior hospitality is at the heart of the dining experience designed by Williams, according to Boston.com.
Savory dishes like French onion soup topped with broiled Gruyère cheese, and Hake En Papillote—a fish and vegetable dish—will be featured on the menu. The beverages will include a selection of small-production French wines to pair, as well as inventive cocktails and mocktails. The brasserie also has plans to serve brunch during weekends. Currently it serves only dinner, according to Boston.com.
DW French, located at the Pierce building in Boylston Street, is expected to positively contribute to the evolving neighborhood, which has seen many changes over the recent years. The budding culinary hub is attracting a diverse group such as business professionals, healthcare sector employees, the academically inclined, and tourists sporting baseball merchandise.
Restaurateurs are seeing the Fenway neighborhood gradually evolving into the gastronomic center of Boston. With the likes of Eastern Standard and the anticipated New York's Blue Ribbon Brasserie claiming their spots, Williams's DW French is set to add a fresh perspective and serve French cuisine to the ever-growing food landscape.
