Yesterday, Boston police officers arrested Chioke Tharps, 50, in Dorchester on firearm-related charges. Per Boston Police Department, officials apprehended Tharps following a report of a person with a gun.
Arriving on the scene, officers noticed Tharps moving away. They halted him and located a firearm beneath a nearby vehicle. Despite resisting arrest, Tharps was handcuffed and securely placed in the police cruiser.
The firearm was identified to quickly assemble not as an ordinary weapon but, a ghost gun—a firearm lacking a serial number which can be easily assembled from components bought individually, often online. The weapon had one round in the chamber and two more in the magazine.
Tharps has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to the Boston Police Department and is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
