Yesterday, District B-3 Anti Crime Unit officers in Mattapan conducted an arrest during a traffic stop in Dorchester following the discovery of a vehicle with excessive tinting.
It is reported in a Boston Police Department release that officers found a loaded firearm and proceeded to arrest 25-year-old Drequan Heywood of South Boston on related charges.
The vehicle occupants on the morning of the arrest demonstrated evasive behaviors that led to the police issuing an exit order. Complying were two individual before Heywood, positioned in the rear, refused the order, initiating a violent struggle as he attempted to reach a firearm in his back pocket. Eventually disarmed and arrested,
Heywood now faces several firearm-related charges and is awaiting arraignment in the Dorchester District Court.
