Earlier today, another unexpected obstacle hit Boston's MBTA Green Line riders when a power malfunction led to a temporary substitution of train service with shuttle buses from Kenmore to Park Street Stations, as per Boston 25 News. This unforeseen disturbance affected travelers in the area from Packard's Corner to Government Center, who were encouraged to use the Route 57 Bus to Kenmore for continued downtown service.

As reported by the Boston Globe, the power disruption around Copley affected not just the B and E branches of the Green Line, but also led to the closure of service between Prudential and Park Street. Commuters were asked to consider alternative transport options, such as the Orange Line for commuting between Back Bay to North Station, or taking the Route 39 Bus to connect Back Bay and Copley.

This recent interruption adds to the growing list of difficulties for the MBTA Green Line, including, but not limited to, the discovery of significant problems with the 4.4-mile Green Line Extension. After its construction, it was found that most of the new tracks on the Medford and Union Square branches were built with rails too close together, leading to repair work to avoid creating additional slow zones. MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng revealed that project managers knew of the problem for a while, however, he became aware of it just a month ago, according to the Boston Globe.
