An unfortunate incident transpired on Monday evening when a man was robbed by an acquaintance from a Caltrain ride in downtown Palo Alto. 

The Palo Alto Police Department's report states the victim was threatened with a supposed firearm, and his backpack and clothing were taken. The suspect was swiftly apprehended.

Following the incident, the suspect was detained at a nearby 7-Eleven after causing a disturbance. Police identified him, as Dennis Isaac Holmes, a 36-year-old from San Jose.

He was arrested without a major confrontation. Holmes, being on active parole for prior assault with a deadly weapon conviction, faces new charges of robbery and parole violation, both felonies, according to the City of Palo Alto news report

It was later ascertained that Holmes did not carry a firearm.
