The timely arrival of the Cambridge Fire Department was crucial to minimizing the effects of the emergency. Once the fire reached a three-alarm status, numerous ladder trucks ascended with firefighters on the tops of the complex buildings, as WCVB chronicled.
As the fire quickly spanned the first and second floors of the occupied 12-unit building, two individuals were successfully rescued by the firefighters. The primary subject sustained significant burns and the second sustained a head injury, as confirmed by Boston 25 News.
The fire was put out within 45 minutes, although the complex's layout caused challenges in the rescue operation. The incident's cause is still being investigated, and there are no further details to release currently.
