Chicago is preparing for an active weather pattern, bringing a series of showers and storms in the coming days. The commencing round of this weather is predicted for today, October 11th, with a frost advisory and a marginal risk of severe weather in certain Illinois and Indiana counties until 8 a.m, as reported by the NBC Chicago.

The chilly day is estimated to start off in the low to mid 30s in affected areas, a temperature dip which potentially can harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. The cold start should then raise to highs in the mid 50s to low 60s, NBC 5 Storm Team anticipates.
The sunny morning is expected to gradually give way to gathering clouds. Rain will commence in south and west suburban areas around 3 p.m., inching closer to the city by evening. Persistent showers and storms, some with heavy intensity, could last through the night and into Thursday morning, NBC 5 Meteorologist Alicia Roman notes.
Areas south, such as Kankakee County, are questionable with a potential risk of severe weather, exhibiting threats of torrential rains, vigorous winds, and small hail. The NWS has also emphasized an increased risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas.
Rainfall should continue into Thursday morning, primarily over northern Illinois. Although temporary dry spells are predicted, more rain is anticipated for Friday. Daily chances for showers and storms are forecasted to persist through the weekend and well into next week, as NBC 5 reports.
The city is in line for a series of rain waves, with the first expected for Wednesday night through Thursday morning and a second round on Friday afternoon, adds the NWS Chicago's Twitter account. These continuous showers pose additional threats of flooding, hail, and strong winds in the area.
Accumulated rainfall by Friday could range between 1 and 1.5 inches, with some regions potentially receiving more. Along with persistent precipitation, fluctuating temperatures from the 50s to 70s can be expected throughout the week across the city.
