Yesterday, September 30, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) reported seven gun violence incidents, three resulting in victims’ critical condition, including a 16-year-old boy. Among these was a 29-year-old male shot in the 800 block of E. 39th Street. CPD reported he was shot in a park by two unknown men at approximately 1:30 p.m., sustaining injuries to his left leg and right hip. Likewise, a 35-year-old male was shot in his right arm in the 7900 block of S. Halsted around 1:44 p.m. He is currently in good condition at the University of Chicago Hospital, Area Two Detectives are investigating both cases.
According to CPD reports, in the afternoon, a 40-year-old male was shot in the 7700 block of S. Ashland around 4:32 p.m. Despite the initial report of him being in good condition, he was transported to Holy Cross Hospital. Shortly after, a 38-year-old male was shot in the buttocks near the sidewalk in the 4800 block of W. Fulton. He was also initially reported in good condition and has been transferred to Mt. Sinai Hospital for treatment. No perpetrator for both incidents have been arrested by area detectives.
Late in the day, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the head on the 4900 block of W. Madison at 5:50 p.m., with the CPD reported him in critical condition at Stroger Hospital. As with other shootings, no suspects are, to date, to be arrested and area detectives proceed to investigate.
The final recorded incident for the day involved two men, aged 21 and 23, who were shot in the abdomen after a dispute with an unknown male on the 4300 block of W. Armitage around 11:25 p.m. The victims, currently in critical condition, were transported to the Illinois Masonic Hospital. As stated by the CPD, no suspects are in custody and Area Four detectives continue to investigate.
