Earlier today, 26-year-old Jose Rico was arrested and charged in West Englewood, Chicago, for allegedly firing a gun at local police officers. ABC7 Chicago reports that Rico has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a loaded weapon without a Firearm Owners Identification card.
The incident occurred when Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers responded to a call about a suspicious person in the area. An individual fitting the provided description allegedly drew a firearm and shot towards the responding officers, before attempting to flee the scene. Remarkably, no injuries were reported from either the officers or suspect. In addition, no return fire was reported by the officers as reported by ABC7 Chicago.
WGN-TV confirmed the lack of injuries from the incident, highlighting the fortunate absence of any innocent bystanders being caught up in the confrontation. Rico was apprehended and was expected to make a court appearance following his arrest. Both the CPD and public now await for the unfolding of the legal process.
