
Chicago authorities charged James Jones, 51, from South Bend, Indiana, with the first-degree murder of a 29-year-old man, today.
Per the Chicago Police Department, the victim was shot fatally on September 14, 2022, at approximately 10:21 p.m. in the 1500 block of S. Springfield Ave. (10th District).
The Great Lakes Regional Task Force arrested Jones on October 9, 2023, in the 400 block of W. Sample St. in South Bend, Indiana, and he was extradited to Chicago immediately.
The defendant's detention hearing occurred today at a court on 2600 S. California. Chicago Police issued his arrest warrant after positively identifying him as the murder suspect.
