A Chicago man, 41-year-old Julius Ramsey, was sentenced to 88 years in prison on Friday, October 28th. The sentence came as a result of his sexual assault on a hotel employee at the Hyatt House in Oak Brook, Illinois, in 2019. NBC Chicago highlights that Ramsey was found guilty in May 2021 of three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm, one count of aggravated kidnapping with a firearm, and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The WGN-TV, detailed that on September 9th, 2019, Ramsey forced the hotel employee into a vacant room at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her multiple times. The victim did escape and sought help leading to the investigation by the Oak Brook Police Department. Ramsey turned himself in after three days and has been in custody at DuPage County Jail since then.

As a part of his sentencing, Ramsey received 22 years for each of the sexual assault and kidnapping convictions, and a seven-year sentence for the sexual abuse charge. He will be required to serve 85% of, to his sentence before he can become eligible for parole. "Mister Ramsey's moral depravity was on full display as he repeatedly sexually assaulted an innocent woman," stated DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin, condemning Ramsey's actions. He recognized the bravery of the victim who managed to seek help despite her fear and trauma.
