On Wednesday, October 4, a Chicago police squad car was shot at in the New City neighborhood.
As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, 9th District officers were responding to a ShotSpotter alert, when unexpectedly, gunfire from an unidentified source hit their vehicle.
The car's windshield was shattered, causing minor injuries to an officer. This officer has since been treated at a local hospital for minor wounds.
Pursuant to the Fox 32 Chicago report, the police officers did not return fire during the incident.
Following the shooting, three people were taken into custody when observed running into a nearby house. Investigations to threatenly uncover the precise circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
