Two violent incidents involving firearms took place in Chicago yesterday, October 11, illustrating the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city. The initial incident occurred in the 6600 block of S. Evans at approximately 5:53 p.m., leaving a 40-year-old man severely wounded. The second occurrence happened that evening in the 3000 block of W. Roosevelt Rd, resulting in injuries of two men, of ages 21 and 16, who are now recovering.

The first victim, an unidentified 40-year-old male, was injured in an alley when a bullet struck his upper back. He was immediately taken to the University of Chicago Hospital and is currently in critical state. The assailant is still on the loose, and Area One Detectives have started investigating the case.

Following this, at 10:27 p.m., a shooting was reported to the police. On arrival at the scene, officers found a 21-year-old male, who indicated he was shot and had an injury to his left thigh. Not far from him, a critically injured 16-year-old boy was spotted with bullet wounds to both his feet. Both victims were promptly transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital and are recovering.

No arrests have been made to date, but Area Four detectives are working the case.
