The suburban community of Lake in the Hills, northwest of Chicago, was struck by the apprehension of a local taekwondo teacher, Allen Nguyen, 29, on child pornography charges. Following a four-month Huntley police investigation initiated by a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, Nguyen was arrested on Wednesday, October 25, according to CBS News.
Employed at Ha's Taekwondo Academy in Lake in the Hills, Nguyen now finds himself facing four charges related to child pornography. This includes two Class X felonies for reproducing or distributing videos of victims under 13 and two Class 2 felonies for possessing those videos on his computer. The revelation of Nguyen's arrest has deeply affected the community, particularly parents of children who were his taekwondo students.
In the wake of these allegations, and with an emergency parent meeting scheduled for October 28 at the now closed studio, the community is coming to terms with this unexpected development. The Huntley Police Department encourages anyone with case information to share it, as the full scope of Nguyen's alleged actions and the possible number of victims are still undetermined, as reported by the Daily Herald.
