The Chicago Police Department (CPD) has issued an alert concerning a worrying trend in vehicle thefts. A string of instances in October in the 1st District, saw firearms being taken from vehicles along with other personal belongings.
The Chicago Police Department published on October 29th, an alert that provided details of three incidents which occurred on the 24th and 25th of October, involving stolen vehicle and firearms.
Addressing this issue requires community involvement, not just law enforcement actions. Collective effort can help in deterring crimes such as these. To assist, the CPD provides precautionary advice like parking in lit areas and installing vehicle security systems, that are not only beneficial in avoiding thefts, but also help in restricting illegal firearm circulation.
