Yesterday, a minor collision involving a Pittsfield Police Department cruiser and a 2023 Jeep Wrangler happened at Coltsville intersection in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, resulting in few injuries. The incident occurred as the police cruiser was responding to a call and attempted to pass through the intersection.
While responding to the disturbance, the officer on duty, Matthew Ahern, tried to pass through the intersection with intermittent siren and flashing lights. Upon attempt, they collided with westbound Jeep Wrangler, driven by Ms. Kimberly Gaylord, 57, of Peru, MA, who had her two grandchildren in the car, according to the police report.
This collision resulted in the Jeep Wrangler spinning out, causing it to land on its driver side. All those involved in the accident were transported to Berkshire Medical Center (BMC) for medical attention. They were all released after being treated for minor injuries. The case remains under active investigation by Lt. Marc Maddalena of the Pittsfield Police Traffic Unit.
