Logan Clegg, 27, was convicted for the murder of Stephen and Djeswende Reid earlier today. The jury found him guilty of second-degree murder after a three-week trial according to CBS News.

The Reids, a retired couple known for international development work, was shot multiple times in April 2022 while walking on a trail near their Concord, New Hampshire apartment as stated in NBC Boston article. Their bodies were discovered several days later, hidden in the woods. Clegg, who had apparently been residing in a nearby tent, committed the crime and then set his makeshift home ablaze before fleeing to New Hampshire with a forged passport, a one-way ticket to Germany, and a concealed firearm in his backpack according to The Boston Globe.

Even with the evidence linking Clegg to the murders, his motives still puzzle those involved with the case. Prosecutor Joshua Speicher admitted, "What we don't know is why. We just don't know." as reported by CBS News. The trial heavily relied on forensic evidence, including shell casings and bullet fragments, to tie Clegg's firearm to the crime scene.

Mr. Clegg will be sentenced at 9:00 a.m. on December 15, 2023, at the Merrimack County Superior Court in Concord according to New Hampshire Department of Justice.
