
Authorities from the Chicago Police Department confirmed that officers responded to reports of a shooting on West 54th Street at around 2:00 AM earlier today. The resulting altercation ended with one fatality and one critically injured.
Upon the police's arrival, they were greeted by a 63-year-old man. He recounted an argument with a 28-year-old male and a 25-year-old female within the residence. Both he and the female party produced firearms, precipitating a deadly gunfight. The 25-year-old woman sustained severe gunshot wounds in the head area. Despite medical intervention at University of Chicago Hospital, she was pronounced dead.
Transported to University of Chicago Hospital, the 28-year-old male suffered from gunshot wounds to his chest and thigh, which leaving him critically injured. The older man, who stayed at the scene, was taken to a local area for further questioning. Two handguns were later recovered from the scene, further assisting the ongoing investigation.
