Yesterday, October 8, two women in their 20s were injured after being swept off the Dog Bar breakwater in Gloucester Harbor, Massachusetts, due to strong waves and rough weather conditions. According to Mass Live, emergency personnel received the call around 10:45 a.m. at Eastern Point Lighthouse. Despite the harsh weather, first responders and local bystanders worked together, rescuing the women from the water and then transporting them to local hospitals for treatment.
In a statement, Gloucester Police Chief Edward Conley underlined the perilous conditions presented by the breakwater, especially under high tide and fierce weather. He strongly urged both locals and visitors to exercise caution near the water, states CBS Boston.
