On Sunday, October 23, an 18-year-old from East Boston was killed and two others were injured in a car crash in Barton, Vermont. The deceased, Brian Sanchez, was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 91 in a 2013 Ford Explorer, according to Boston.com and WCVB.
Vermont State Police said troopers responded to the report of the crash on I-91 in Barton around 12:43 p.m according to The Boston Globe. Rainy conditions might have contributed as the Ford Explorer slipped off the slick road and into an embankment, where it hit a concrete wall and tree line.
Brian Sanchez and fellow passenger Jorge Caballeros were not wearing seatbelts during the crash. Conversely, driver Ediberto Luna was. WCVB reports that while Luna sustained life-threatening injuries and Caballeros serious ones, Sanchez's life was unable to be saved.
To further investigate, Vermont State Police are asking for any information or eyewitness accounts of the crash. Those who have such information should contact Sergeant Joshua Mikkola at [email protected] or call 802-334-8881, says Boston.com.
