
A potential traffic crisis was averted today when a Level 1 Hazmat incident occurred on the Kennedy Expressway Outbound near Lawrence. The situation, though causing brief concern, was promptly and effectively dealt with by emergency response teams before any substantial disruption could occur.
In a public statement, the Chicago Fire Department relayed the fact that this classification applies to lesser episodes proporting risk to environmental or public health. By 4:24 a.m., 2-2-2 command ordered the incident secure, releasing all north and southbound lanes and reporting the situation under control with no further information (NFI) requisite.
