
Ex-NFL player Sergio Brown was arrested today in San Diego, in relation to the death of his mother. His arrest is a development in a case involving family tragedy and personal hardship, reports NBC Chicago.
The body of his 73-year-old mother, Myrtle Brown, was located earlier in mid-September in a creek, nearby her Maywood home. As a result, what had been a case of missing persons turned into a murder investigation with Sergio Brown, her 35-year-old son and former professional football player, remaining to disappear until his recent apprehension, according to Hoodline.
Sergio is from Maywood, where he achieved local fame as an athlete before he advanced to the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. His football career peaked when he entered the NFL, playing as a defensive back for multiple teams such as the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills from 2010 to 2016.
Until he was found in San Diego, Sergio was also missing from around the time of his mother's disappearance. His brother, Nick Brown, extended his worries and love via social media. Now that Sergio has been detained, the family is left to reconcile with the pain and decipher the whirlwind of ongoing incidents.
Moving on with their investigation, officials stumbled upon an eerie video that supposedly includes Brown. This video, shared on social media, shows a man resembling him declaring his mother's demise as "fake news" and insinuating that she has gone on a vacation as reported by NBC Chicago. The veracity of this footage is yet to be confirmed, but nonetheless adds another layer of enigma to his conduct.
