Two motorcyclists from Oceanside experienced a fatal accident on Interstate 5 yesterday morning. As reported by NBC San Diego, a 20-year-old operating a black Yamaha motorcycle collided with a 22-year-old on a Honda CBR600 motorcycle, resulting in the death of the former.
During the accident, both bikers were moving northbound when, inexplicably, the Yamaha rider rear-ended the Honda, which resulted in both of them being ejected from their motorcycles.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Medical Examiner's Office established at the accident scene that the 20-year-old Yamaha rider had passed away, whereas the Honda operator was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fox 5 San Diego.
While investigations are ongoing, the CHP was able to rule out intoxication as a factor.
Individuals with any information regarding the accident are urged to contact the CHP at 760-643-3400, as cited by NBC San Diego.
