Earlier today, a fatal accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive has claimed the life of a 29-year-old passenger. The driver, a 53-year-old man, is currently in critical condition according to the Chicago Tribune. He drove in the wrong direction – south in the northbound lanes, crashing into another vehicle.
Both driver and passenger received immediate medical attention at the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to CBS. Unfortunately, the young passenger did not survive their injuries.
Chicago police are currently are investigating the cause of this fatal error. The Major Accidents Unit is piecing together the crash, aiming to prevent a reoccurrence.
