A Fitchburg State University female student reported a sexual assault to campus police on Wednesday, October 4th. WCVB states the incident took place in the university library between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The victim's description of the attacker was a thin male, around 19 years old and 5-foot-5-inches tall, having an unidentifiable accent. After the safety notice came to light, campus security was strengthened.
Since then, additional students have come forward, claiming to have been approached by a male who matches the description of the library assault suspect. This information led to increased cooperation between the university and public safety partners in order to locate the suspect, via CBS News. Further, the presence of law enforcement is likely to increase at several public campus sites while the investigation is ongoing.
