On October 10, Jazlyn Rodrigues, a 15-year-old from Franklin, Massachusetts, went missing. Her sudden disappearance has left those close to her distraught, as reported by Boston 25 News. Her mother, Jessica Negron, has been persistent in her search for Jazlyn.
According to Patch, Jazlyn was last seen walking away from her home on Woodview Way around 7 p.m., dressed in a gray sweatshirt, black pants, and black sneakers. In a statement issued via Franklin Police, Negron shared that her daughter is passionate about art and is academically-focused, suggesting it would be out of character for the young girl to voluntarily be absent from school.
As the investigation continues, there has been no definitive evidence as to where Jazlyn might be, nor signs of criminal activity related to her disappearance, states a report from Boston.com. However, a surveillance video from her apartment complex does show Jazlyn walking near a tree line shortly after she was last seen. Despite extensive efforts, police dogs and detectives have not found any significant leads in the surrounding woods yet.
Chief Thomas J. Lynch made it clear in an interview with Boston 25 News that the police are making every effort to determine what has happened, saying, "We are tracking down everything we can, we are looking at every different angle, and as of right now we don't have any information pointing towards any related criminal activity to this incident."
Adding to the family's distress is a recent tragedy they faced. Just a few months ago, Jazlyn's older brother, Kevin Batiz, died in a car accident in Rhode Island, as per Boston.com. Jessica Negron is still grieving her son's loss, and now faces the torment of her missing daughter. She has appealed to the public for any information that could help them locate Jazlyn.
In a touching message to her daughter released through the police, Negron wrote, "Dear Jazzy, We miss you, love you, and will not stop looking for you. We just want you to come home. Love, Mom." And as each day passes with no resolution, the importance of community assistance in the ongoing search becomes increasingly critical.
The Franklin Police Department urges those with any relevant information to come forward by contacting them at 508-528-1212. Every piece of information could potentially be a stepping stone to ensuring Jazlyn Rodrigues' safe return to her family.
