Chicago's popular hot chicken joint, Fry the Coop, has launched its eighth location in Lincoln Park earlier this month, on October 12th, according to Block Club Chicago. Founder Joe Fontana attributes the successful opening to the support of regular patrons and new customers alike.

To quickly develop its roots within the Lincoln Park community, Fry the Coop's new location at 2404 N. Lincoln Ave, has incorporated historical visuals of the neighborhood throughout the restaurant. The chosen location's proximity to DePaul University allows students to enjoy Fry the Coop's unique take on hot chicken conveniently.

What sets Fry the Coop apart from competitors is its distinctive approach to spicy chicken. Unlike most establishments that commonly rely on heavy sauces, Fontana has chosen to focus on a spicy dry rub to flavor his dishes. The intensity of spice offered spans from 'Country' (without heat) to 'Insanity' (extremely hot), thereby catering to a wide set of diners. As What Now Chicago reports, the 'Insanity' level reportedly packs about 1 million Scoville units of heat.

Fry the Coop prides in using 100% Halal-certified chicken, making the dishes accessible for a diverse range of people. While the current lack of Halal-certified fat for frying poses a hurdle to complete Halal certification, Fontana aims to solve this issue in due course. The restaurant also provides various options for those who require gluten-free meals.

However, the expansion of Fry the Coop isn't stopping at Lincoln Park. What Now Chicago, states the ninth location of this booming chain is already under construction in Glen Ellyn. There are also plans to grow the grid of drive-thru venues, with the first one already up and operating in Darien.

Since the opening of Fry the Coop its original in 2017, Fontana has steered his venture from a meatball restaurant experiment to a fast-expanding hot chicken chain. The chain's ongoing journey, marked by the recent opening in Lincoln Park, stands testament to Fontana's entrepreneurial journey and his gift to the Chicago dining scene.
