Earlier today, Governor Maura T. Healey nominated Fabiola White for the position of Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Juvenile Court and Edith "Edee" Alexander for the Massachusetts Parole Board. The proposed nominees fall into the confirmation purview of the Governor's Council wherein their official posts will be determined, according to Mass.gov

“Fabiola White has shown a lifelong commitment to protecting and supporting children in need of care and I’m confident her experiences will serve her well as an Associate Justice on our Juvenile Court. Similarly, Edee Alexander has dedicated her career to equitable treatment under the law and I am excited to nominate her as a Parole Board Member,” the Governor stated per a recent Mass.gov article.

By nominating Fabiola White to the Massachusetts Juvenile Court, the Governor recognizes her extensive experience and readiness to serve vulnerable children and families. A native of Haiti and now a resident of Cambridge, White fully understands the importance of resilience and community support. She has been with Massachusetts Probation Services since 2019 and has also represented children and families in care proceedings, guardianships, child requiring assistance, and delinquency proceedings in Cambridge and Boston Juvenile Courts, emphasized the Governor.

White is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Associations Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare Section Council and the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. Her dedication to serving vulnerable populations aligns perfectly with the mission of the Juvenile Court, which is to guard children from abuse, promote safe family environments, and rehabilitate delinquents.

Edith "Edee" Alexander, like White, has devoted her career to improving the lives of others, concentrating on equitable treatment and reducing recidivism among young adults. Currently, Alexander works as a Probation Officer at the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court. There, she runs the CHOICE program, an initiative aiming to decrease recidivism rates among young adults aged between 18 to 24, according to the press release.

Alexander has held positions at institutions like Boston University's Graduate School of Social Work and Perrin House Community Services in Boston, bringing to these roles her vast knowledge and experience in guiding people through rehabilitation. Given the goals of the Massachusetts Parole Board, to promote public safety through conditional release and supervision of inmates, Alexander is a fitting nominee.

Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll strongly believe in the nominees' ability to contribute significantly to the state and the rule of law.

As the nominations of White and Alexander await deliberation by the Governor's Council, the candidates' dedication to public service and fair treatment under law are the key focal points of discussion. Both nominees, poised to bring vast experience, empathy, and expertise to their prospective roles, are crucial in the continued quest for a more equitable justice system.
