
A Home Depot employee is alleged to have embezzled approximately $1.2 million from the company since August 2022. The San Rafael Police Department reported via a tweet on October 17, that the allegations surfaced after an internal investigation by Home Depot.

On October 17, 2023, SRPD received a call from Home Depot regarding an employee who embezzled approximately $1.2 million.

The suspect confessed to steadily and quietly having amassed the stolen funds. Their downfall, however, came swiftly as they were arrested with over $8,000 on hand. The ill-gotten money was recklessly spent on expensive designer goods.
Because of the suspect's potential flight risk, the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) Detectives increased the bail amount. A search warrant led the detectives to the suspect's home, where they discovered cash and luxury items likely purchased with the stolen funds.
