Hotel Del Coronado's Seaside Victorian Carnival, Celebrating 135 Years of History and CharitySource: Google Street View

Celebrating 135 years of history, the Hotel Del Coronado is hosting a Victorian-inspired carnival event, Then & Now, aimed at supporting local charities. The event, scheduled today, is free to attend and boasts a family-friendly atmosphere. Tokens for activities are to be purchased on-site. For more details visit the event's page from There San Diego.

Attendees could expect beach-side performances, including aerial shows, tight-rope walkers, and other artistic displays. Also on the itinerary is a sandcastle exhibition highlighting local artists' skills and imagination.

The heart of this event lies in an array of vintage carnival games designed to spark nostalgia and gleeful competition. From milk can toss to Plinko, the beachfront game gallery caters to everyone. Proceeds from game fees are set to directly support local charities such as the Coronado Schools Foundation and Coronado Historical Association.

Along with a taste of the past, the carnival introduces a modern touch with a custom, 12 ft turret bar located at the center of the lawn. Offering signature cocktails, the bar creates a picturesque setting to relax while enjoying the vibrant surroundings.

The Hotel Del Coronado has since 1888 been a pivotal point of modern history. It has hosted numerous luminaries and world leaders, and boasts the honor of presenting the first electrically-lit, outdoor Christmas tree in 1904. Importantly, Hollywood too has found a soft spot for this location, featuring it as a backdrop in iconic films like "Some Like It Hot". The carnival provides an immersive opportunity to partake in the hotel's illustrious history.
