Huntington Beach Unveils Sustainable and Inclusive Transportation Solution with Utica Avenue Bike BoulevardSource: Facebook/City of Huntington Beach - Government

Today, the City of Huntington Beach completed its Utica Avenue Bike Boulevard project, funded by a grant from the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). Serving as a shared-use bicycle boulevard spanning from Main Street to Beach Boulevard, Utica Avenue features accessibility improvements, updated signage and striping, a new bicycle-activated signal at Lake Street and Utica Avenue, and wayfinding signage throughout the corridor, as per City of Huntington Beach.

In addition to the shared-use facility, the Boulevard includes new ADA ramps, reaffirming Huntington Beach's commitment to inclusivity within its design infrastructure. Several cities have recently launched similar initiatives to enhance bicycle safety and attractiveness.

Another improvement featured in the Boulevard is a bike-only cut-through at the cul-de-sacs located east of Lake Street. This new addition gives cyclists a dedicated space, reducing the potential for accidents with other road users.
