Authorities are focusing their investigations on an unknown dark-colored vehicle. Witnesses alleged that they saw this vehicle traveling westbound at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Spring Creek Road in Montrose, Illinois moments before the accident. The ISP is appealing to residents for aid in piecing together the incident by analyzing security and doorbell cameras. According to the ISP Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 Investigations, such footage could hold critical information, as stated in their press release.
