On September 30th, 2023, officers from multiple Citywide, Districts A-1 (Downtown), C-6 (South Boston), and D-14 (Brighton) Drug units collaborated with the B-3 (Mattapan) anti-crime unit to conduct a noteworthy arrest in an ongoing drug investigation. The operation led to the arrest of Joshua Mendes, a 27-year-old suspect residing in the Mattapan community. The arrest followed after a search warrant was exercised on Mendes' property, resulting in the recovery of several offensive items.
Based on to quickly respond to the Boston Police Department's report, officers stationed near 10 Malta St in Mattapan observed Mendes leaving his residence. Following a traffic stop and an exit order, Mendes was arrested without resistance. This arrest exhibits another successful example of inter-agency cooperation impacting the fight against crime.
In the search of Mendes' property, officers retrieved $975 in cash, 10 foil packets of marijuana, a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber firearm, and five live rounds of ammunition. This resulted in charges against Mendes, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without FID Card, Unlawful possession of Ammunition without FID Card, Firearm with Defaced Serial Number, & Possession with Intent to Distribute. Mendes is expected to face these charges in the Dorchester District Court.
